 Movement Instructor

The Allegro Foundation… a Champion for Disabilities is looking for a kind and energetic Movement Instructor to join their part-time staff! The candidate must love children and will be trained in the Allegro Technique beginning as an assistant in class and moving towards a lead instructor. This position is a paid, part time, contractor position who is reimbursed for mileage.

Allegro Foundation… a Champion for Children with Disabilities is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization that combines movement instruction with educational & medical expertise, creating new techniques to teach children with disabilities and enhance their quality of life. www.AllegroFoundation.net

Responsibilities:

Reports to: President, Chief Operating Officer/Program/Education Director

Hours / Week: 10-15

Movement Education – you will be trained in our techniques for working with children with disabilities   

Assistant Instructor 

o Assist Allegro Lead teacher in preparing room for class

o Assist Allegro Lead teacher throughout class with music and props

o *May be required to dress up in a themed, child friendly costume for class

Lead Instructor
 
 o Attend Allegro curriculum meetings
 
   o Follow lesson plans from Allegro curriculum and teach assigned programs in 30 minute Movement Education classes to children with disabilities
 
  o Attend Choreography meetings with President and other instructors
 
  o Help conduct Assessments and Evaluations
 
Qualifications:

Education

Associate or Bachelor’s degree

Experience

· Working with children
· 2+ years of work experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

· Ability to teach children movement to counts and music. Experience with dance and performance is a plus.
· Strong leader who is able to take control of a classroom of young students and project voice
· Responds well to authority- must be able to respect office rules and regulations, be on time to work, and teach the Allegro Technique learned in training
· Team Player -ability to work collaboratively on a high-functioning team
· Organized - ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently and accurately
· High Energy – Outgoing Personality
· Mature and Professional- Confident and Responsible
· Animated- must be able to hold children’s attention
· Strong organization skills and attention to detail
· Openness to feedback and desire to grow professionally
· Professionalism and Accountability
· Flexibility to meet changing work needs and demands
 
Other Requirements

Valid NC or SC driver’s license, access to reliable insured transportation, and ability to work non- traditional work hours as needed.
